In recent years some anomalies in neutrino oscillation experiments have been reported, suggesting the existence of a sterile neutrino state with mass difference of $1\mathrm{eV}^2$. This mass splitting may produce a matter induced resonance effect for neutrino energies of order $1$TeV. IceCube, due to its large statistic data on atmospheric neutrinos in this energy range, is a very powerful experiment to search for sterile neutrinos. In this talk I will present the search of sterile neutrinos using up-going track events for one year of data of the 86-string configuration.
