Abstract: SCET is an effective field theory designed for describing processes involving collimated jets. The non-local nature of SCET makes it harder than usual EFT's. It was originally applied to B-decays in the endpoint, but lately it has been successfully applied to collider physics. In particular one can use it to make high-order resummation of singular partonic logarithms and to identify power corrections. In this seminar I aim to cover the basics of the SCET the formalism, and how factorization is achieved. Depending on time, I will discuss how to proof factorization for a class of event shapes and the structure of power corrections.
